The EcoCulture Rainwater Sequestration projects proposed here are intended for the tropics -- with defined rainy season and dry season, occurrence of several typhoons each year -- to address the following key issues:

  1. How to store in place, most (if not all) of the rainwater during the rainy season, for use later during the dry season, and especially during prolonged drought during the advent of El Nino.
  2. How to mitigate the devastating impact of flash floods, as a result of heavy rains during typhoons (compounded by massive deforestation).

Rainwater Sequestration Projects
Fig. 02. Eugenio-Magano Farm 01 (Cadu, Ilagan) EcoCulture Projects : Rainwater Sequestration Projects. The Rainwater Seuestration Ponds proposed is integral component of a larger integrated Water Sequestration, Treatment, Recycling and Conservation projects with the following major components:

  1. Rainwater Sequestration Ponds
  2. Canals and Local Irrigation System  (visit separate article)
  3. Locks and Organic Dams (visit separate article)

Not included (or not so apparent) in the schematic map (Fig 01 above), are related Water Sequestration, Treatment, Recycling and Conservation projects:

  1.  Kahon-kahon
  2.  Micro-irrigation system
  3.  Evapo-transpiration minimization
  4.  Sub-surface (underground) water storage

to enhance the ability of the land to store in place as much, if not all, of the rainwater during the rainy season -- for use later during the dry season; and, especially during the occurrence of El Nino when prolonged dry season and drought occur for a period between several months to as long as two years.

The Water Sequestration, Treatment, Recycling and Conservation projects are among the foundation projects of the EcoCulture System to create a biodiverse and sustainable food production system (see Fig. 03 for other proposed EcoCulture projects).
